A few weeks ago we stopped at Allied Brewing. They have a very nice outdoor area where they often have music.
I had a flight with Cup of Joe- Coffee Stout, Pacific Fleet Porter, Patton's Pale Ale and whatever the other was it was nothing to write about.

The Cup of Joe had a super strong flavor of coffee. I have had many coffee infused beers that I liked. This was not one of them.

The Pacific Fleet Porter was not your typical bourbon barrel. It was pleasantly mild and the Vanilla, Carmel and toasted oat made it taste like graham crackers. I had a similar beer in Los Angeles that was brewed with graham cracker.

Patton's Pale Ale , a crisp light ale good for hot summer days. We bought a 4 pack since we both liked it.
The price is no bargain at $20

The military theme is in honor of the couple's respective grandfathers, who served in World War II. They have a long connection with Altamont Orchards, from which they are leasing space for the taproom and a back beer garden with views of the Helderbergs, because for the past 16 years Kevin Etaw has run food and beverage operations at the adjoining Orchard Creek Golf Club, owned by Altamont Orchards.

It has been a long time since I have added anything to this Blog. I due my best writing after enjoying a few brews. At least I think I do. Not sure if you will agree. A few weekends ago was the first time we visited Cooperstown Brewing. I have had the beer at Northern Eagle during a private event. It is much more fun to drink at the Brewery.

I decided on a flight Backyard IPA, Living the maggie life, oat-bituary stout and Raspberry. Living the maggie life is described as a Brown Ale conditioned on peanut butter. I normally stay away from odd things like peanut butter in my beer. It was surprisingly not bad, I thought it was smooth and had a toasted butterscotch flavor. ( I actually purchased another on a return trip.)
Next the Raspberry Shandy, described as a cream ale blended with raspberry puree and a touch of lemon. This was refreshing, a great warm summer day beer. It was both a little fizzy and smooth. You could taste the raspberry. It reminded me of Elder Betty we used to get from Magic Hat before they quit making all of the great beers. Last but not least, backyard IPA with floral citrus character. Tasted ok warm, for an IPA it was not terribly hoppy.
The brewery itself is nice, with an outdoor seating area. Inside a bar area and picnic tables in the back with a view of the Brewing Tanks. During the summer, like anything near Cooperstown it is full of tourists.

Atouristlife / June 1, 2017What is it that people like about beer? I hope to eventually be able to answer that question for you. I have been drinking beer for a very long time and no I don’t plan to put a number on that.
As a child I was always sneaking Beer from my Dad as were many of you I imagine. I can’t seem to locate the one photo I have, most likely absconded by my mother. No I was not being allowed to drink , I was just very good at sneaking a sip here and there. Back in the day most family parties had a keg of beer and yes I was even better at filling a glass with no one ever noticing.
Today I still have a taste for Beer and find it a fun part of my Travel Adventures. I am a Travel Agent and visit many places for my Business. One of the best parts of this is finding craft breweries or trying the local brew at a bar.
I started Blogging with my Travel business http://www.atouristlife.com my original travel Blog. I enjoy writing about my travels, however when the trip is over so is the content to write about. Beer on the other hand, I can always find a new variety without ever leaving the state. Additionally it is a great motivator for travel. Let's find new great beer together.
